PRICKWILLOW DRAINAGE ENGINE MUSEUM

* Acoustic Music at the Pump returns September 15 at 7.30pm after the Summer Break and continues each month on the 3rd Monday.

* Exhibition by Chris Jakes celebrating the 50th Anniversary since the opening of Prickwillow Pottery by Derek and Margot Andrews (1975 -1995).

Almost 100 items made at the pottery on display and information boards telling the story.

Viewable all this year during Museum opening hours. Normal admission charges apply.

Friday September 26 at 7.00pm

Talk by Alan Denney with a fascinating insight into “The History of Waterway Transport Through the Fens”

Burgers/hot dogs/cakes/drinks etc available to purchase from 5.30pm.

Admission £5, museum members free.

PRICKWILLOW BOOK/WINE CLUB

Tuesday September 23, 8.00pm at Heather’s House

All ladies welcome (even if you’ve not read the books).

Recommended books are:

Wolf Hall” by Hilary Mantel and
“Someone I Used to Know” by Wendy Mitchell

VILLAGE HALL PLAYGROUND

The playground equipment is to be replaced during September/October and the area will be out of use.

CATS STILL MISSING

Please help us find our missing cats. Have you seen LILO or Pepper?

LILO is a tabby and white male 5 years old. He is neutered and chipped and very friendly. He has been missing now for 7 weeks.

Pepper is black with no other markings. Female, 10 months old, spayed and chipped and also very friendly. Pepper has been missing for 5 weeks.

Both cats disappeared from Padnal Bank on a Wednesday evening.

A reward is offered for finders of our beloved pets.

20mph SPEED LIMIT FOR PRICKWILLOW

In the travel survey 55% of residents stated they wanted a 20mph speed limit through the village and the Village Council is considering making a formal application to the Local Highways Improvement Initiative this coming Autumn.

There will be a further opportunity for residents to put forward their views at the next CIC meeting in the Village Hall on September 30. 

ANNOUNCED ROADWORKS

The following proposed roadworks have been announced:

Prickwillow Road (B1104) and Great Fen Road – Sep 01 to Nov 03; various road closures.

PV CIC MEETING DATES 2025

All meetings are held in the Village Hall and start at 8.00pm.

September 30 (change of date from 16th)

AGM Tuesday November 11 2025 (7.30pm) followed by Committee meeting

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

A Harvest Supper will be held at the Village Hall on Friday October 24 at 7.00pm to raise funds for consumables and to maintain the defibrillator.

Chris Jakes will be presenting a slideshow entitled ‘Prickwillow Celebrates – Jubilees and Coronations from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth’.

ELY CATHEDRAL

Ely Cathedral will be participating in Heritage Open Days, England’s largest community led festival of history and culture.

On Sunday 14 September between 12.00-15.00 visitors can enjoy free entry to the Cathedral to explore how the Cathedral has been designed, built, fallen and restored over the centuries of its rich history and architectural influence.
