Village Hall

The original hall dates back to 1965 when it was established by Trust Deed and built for village residents and groups to use as a facility for communal, social, leisure and educational activities.

The hall was refurbished in 2009 from funds provided by East Cambridgeshire District Council and raised by village events. It was also re-decorated during the Covid-19 lockdown period. The hall is run as a registered charity and managed by a voluntary committee which meets 4-5 times a year to discuss the day-to-day running and funding of the building.

It has been used at various times by village groups including the Women’s Institute, the Over 60s Club, Ely Table Tennis Club, Sports’ Classes and Village Council meetings.

It is an excellent venue for parties, weddings, dances, celebrations and meetings. It benefits from having an extensive and well-maintained play park in its grounds, provided by the local council.

Notice Board: A large-size notice board has been installed outside the hall; any resident wishing to place a notice or advert can do so, provided they monitor the content and timing. The committee reserves the right to remove any out-of-date or unsuitable material at its discretion. Keys are available from committee officers.

New Windows and Doors: A grant from ECDC’s small villages’ scheme has enabled the replacement of the large front windows and the fire exit doors which were badly in need of repair. Our thanks to Ely City Parish councillor, Alison Arnold, for her support in enabling the funding.
